In a recent presentation in Los Angeles, Sony and Naughty Dog have finally shown in playable form the highly anticipated The Last of Us, the latest effort from the creators of Uncharted. From what I had seen so far, he had not yet figured out if the developers were really trying to create a true survival horror, breaking in this way fairly clear from the atmosphere and fun read of the adventures of Nathan Drake. The latest information leaked from California, however, leave no doubt: in The Last of Us have to fight to survive, and the task will be anything but simple.
The fights are, in fact, described as very challenging, both for the lack of objects, to be recovered by exploring the levels, but for the strength of the enemies.
The world of The Last of Us has been invaded, about ten years before the events narrated in the game, a ferocious fungus, which has plagued much of the population, transforming it into a state of suspension that makes it look like the infected in the living dead, as aggressive as the infection is established. Humanity is locked in a few meager strongholds, where the remnants of the army trying to defend from the disease. In this context, the protagonists move, smugglers that they have no problem crossing the external world and survive by bringing within the safe areas outlaw material.
From the technical point of view The Last of Us has been very solid and well built, on the other hand is used the same graphics engine Uncharted, although the post apocalyptic settings and are less likely to surprise the player of the lush forests or chases at breakneck speed seen in the series of Drake.
Despite this, the narrative power of Naughty Dog, the ability to use the camera in an original and effective and highly advanced motion capture techniques used, make The Last of Us one of the best games coming to PlayStation 3, so as to admit the developers has been drained from the console almost every capacity.
Now we just have to wait for further information and the opportunity to experience first-hand the latest effort by Naughty Dog.
Recall that The Last of Us is expected May 7, 2013, in an exclusive Playstation 3.
