Have you ever played or read reviews of a game from the Rollercoaster Tycoon series? In case you haven’t, you should know that you never have enough litter bins.
You scatter here and there a few, but there is still garbage all around the park. So you need to pick your tiny employee (the janitor, handyman) and after he flies all over the place, you will land him on the exact spot to clean the mess.
No, it is not the most important part of the game at all. However, putting more litter bins than you think you need will spare you the extra time spent on cleaning (your park has to be spotless; you have a rating to maintain). Then you can concentrate on:
Short review of the game Rollercoaster Tycoon
Being a boss is always desired and it always looks easy from the outside. Do you actually think you are able to manage a whole theme park with a variety of rides and facilities? You have the opportunity to try whether you have the skills in Rollercoaster Tycoon (and after some practice you can go straight to a theme park and ask them to hire you as a manager, right?). The game sometimes feels like the Lego toys you once had as a child – building every single thing, but it is quite different and dynamic. Depending on the Rollercoaster Tycoon you have chosen, you could choose between customizing your amusement park and playing by a certain scenario (customized to some extent). There are set goals and after you accomplish them all, the game is over and you can start another one.
Other incredible choices you can make are about:
The terrain of your theme park can be tailored according to your wishes, thanks to some appropriate tools reviewed in the game. You can make some hills, flatten them or create a lake (smaller or huge, again according to your preferences).
The visitors of your park are able to walk only on paths to reach from some point to another. If they are not on a path by some mistake, they are “lost” and you have to “rescue” them by carrying them the same way as you would do with the janitor that we mentioned. The paths can be made easily and you are able to choose from different patterns and even slopes. Therefore, it is not hard at all to build a bridge from your path, choosing it to point upwards until you decide it is high enough. Don’t forget to connect all the facilities, entrances and exits of your rides with a path.
There is a huge variety of ready rides, which need only an entrance and exit attached, but you can design the entire look of some, especially rollercoasters. Each ride has to be marked as “open” to accept visitors (your park, too), but you can choose some colors, music, price, etc. beforehand.
They are pretty simple buildings for the visitors needs of: maps (from the info kiosk), umbrellas when it is raining, T-shirts, toys (souvenir shops), hamburgers, pretzels, lemonade (food and drinks stands) and many others of each of these categories. Your visitors would also be much more pleased and they will hang out in your park longer if you have restrooms, ATMs, etc. You put prices for all the service and you can choose colors for some.
Your staff consists of mechanics, handymen, security guards, entertainers in different costumes, a park inspector and vendors at rides and facilities. Hire them, fire them, and place them wherever you want – you have all the rights.
Again, you have an absolute freedom to choose from numerous beautiful decorations and to situate them at a spot by your choice. There are plants, statues, benches, (the above mentioned) litter bins and other countless variations. You can even decorate your rides with them.
Last, but not least, the visitors are the most important component, but unfortunately, you cannot control them. In the game their reviews of the experience they have had, determine how popular and attended your theme park is going to be. Try to satisfy them as much as possible: they might be very pleased, feel nausea from the ride or have another emotion.
